YOU are the OEA. Our strength is in the collective wisdom and creativity of our members. We need you to share your talents with us by serving on an OEA committee.

MER-C
This Ad Hoc Committee that has met over the past year and is now ready for a level of commitment and ideas from the members. Cathy Nelson is the Chair of this Committee. Our financial system will be housed within the Omaha School Foundation banking system. At the last meeting we talked about how to help members in need sooner rather than later and have generated some great ideas. Your support is crucial to building this service for members.

ESP Committee
This committee will work to develop and recommend a strategic ESP recruitment plan. Re-examine OEA's ESP dues structure and make recommendations for a Bylaw change. Determine and convey the governance rights and needs of ESPs, explore and address the specific professional needs of ESP members, and assist ESP and potential bargaining units with organization, research, training, negotiations, and contract maintenance.

Ethnic Minority Affairs
We know we need more minority teachers, but we also need more minority leaders in the Association! EMAC encourages ethnic minority participation in all levels of Association work, recommends honorees for the Human Relations Award, and advises OEA leadership on issues of special significant to our ethnic minority members.

Instructional Advocacy
Are you already serving on an OPS instructional committee but wanted to be an OEA voice on that committee? Do you want to help train new teachers? Do you have burning instructional issues (class size? Curriculum?) that you feel need to be addressed. Then this is the Committee for you!

Governance

Member Benefits
Do you wish we had vision insurance, short term disability or other benefits for being an OEA member? Do you wish you knew more about NEA Member Benefits or the NSEA Access card? This committee is responsible for reviewing vendor offers, recommending programs to the OEA Board, and letting members know what benefits are available to them.
