Member Rights

The OEA professional staff are available 12 months a year to assist individual members in dealing with a wide range of concerns. Although the NEA Educators Employment Liability policy offers valuable liability coverage, educators often need help with other job-protection matters.

The OEA professional staff addresses questions and concerns to assist members on issues critical to their employment. Issues have ranged from appraisal of job performance to transfer, from payroll concerns to modifications of assignment due to medical concerns, from working conditions to allegations of misconduct and retirement to long-term disability. Additionally, the OEA President advises numerous members on a daily basis regarding concerns that arise, all of which helps solve problems and prevent concerns from becoming formal grievances.

The OEA also utilizes the resources of the NSEA Member Rights Department to address employment and job-related problems.
